Details: Today, the official Middlesbrough page on social network X reported that former club academy player Anthony Renton passed away over the weekend.
It was announced that Renton died at the age of 27 after a long and difficult battle with leukemia, which was first diagnosed in 2017.
Renton came up through the ranks at Middlesbrough, progressing through every stage of the club’s youth system and even signing his first professional contract. Sadly, he never got the chance to play a senior match due to the onset of his illness.
The club expressed its condolences and support to Renton's family, stating that his memory will always live on.
