RIP. Former Greece international Mario Ikonomou passes away

A car accident has claimed the life of the 33-year-old former defender.
Details: Today it was reported that former Greece national team centre-back Marios Ikonomou has died at the age of 33.
According to reports, Ikonomou passed away in hospital after suffering multiple injuries in a motorcycle accident last week.
Doctors fought to save Marios until the very end, but ultimately, death prevailed.
Throughout his career, Ikonomou played for clubs such as PAS Giannina, Cagliari, Bologna, SPAL, Bari, AEK, Copenhagen, Sampdoria, and Panetolikos.
He also earned six caps for the Greek national team.
In the summer of 2024, Marios Ikonomou announced his retirement from football. His last club was Panetolikos.
