Greek footballer George Baldock, of English descent, tragically passed away a month ago, but the cause of his death remains undetermined, reports Mirror. The former Sheffield United defender was found dead in the pool at his home in Athens on October 9.
The cause of his death is still under investigation, with a heart-related condition suspected as a possible cause of the tragedy.
"The release of official findings could take months. There are only five people with the expertise to conduct microscopic tests in Greece," said Grigoris Leon, a doctor at the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine.
Baldock’s body has already been repatriated to the UK, where his family and loved ones were able to say their final goodbyes. The funeral was attended by several football figures, including Delle Alli, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, and England goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The entire Panathinaikos team also attended the ceremony to pay their respects.
The Greek national team recently dedicated their historic victory over England in the Nations League to Baldock.
In addition, a Sheffield Wednesday fan was recently accused of mocking Baldock’s death during the derby against Sheffield United.
