RIP. Former France national team and PSG defender passes away

The legendary footballer has died at the age of 78 after a long illness.

Details: According to L'Equipe, former France national team defender Jean-Paul Rostagni passed away on Monday at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness.

Born in Drap, Rostagni began his football journey with Cavigal Nice, before joining Monaco in 1966. He played 124 matches for the Monegasques until 1970, making his debut for the French national team during this period.

The defender later played for Bordeaux (57 matches), PSG (32 matches), and Paris FC (58 matches). Rostagni wrapped up his professional career at his beloved Nice, representing the club from 1973 to 1975 and making 28 appearances. For the France national team, he earned 25 caps between 1969 and 1973.

After hanging up his boots, Jean-Paul Rostagni worked as a coach in Peymeinade. Maintaining a special connection to his native region, the former footballer will be laid to rest in Drap.
