Details: The probable cause of the footballer's death has come to light. Reports indicate that Burundi national team midfielder and second division club Le Guépier du Lac player Igiranesa Aime Geric died during a match held last Saturday due to an attempt to conduct a witchcraft ritual.
The footballer lost consciousness right on the pitch, and despite immediate medical assistance, sadly, Aime Geric could not be revived.
At present, the official cause of death has not been announced. However, fans in the stands claim they saw the deceased place a coin under his tongue, which he most likely swallowed during the match, leading to his death.
According to supporters, this gesture was part of a witchcraft ritual, practices that are still actively observed in Burundi to this day.
