Jordan Grand Prix team owner Eddie Jordan, who passed away today after a prolonged battle with cancer, was the man who brought a young Michael Schumacher into Formula 1. Yet, despite this, he was barred from visiting the German after the tragic accident in 2013. Jordan himself explained the reasons behind this decision in an interview.

"I was not able to go see Michael and they said 'We love you Eddie and we've been involved with you for a very long time, but we do need privacy and safeguard of Michael,'" stated Jordan.

However, the former Jordan Grand Prix owner never held any resentment over this decision, accepting it and believing it was truly in the best interest of Schumacher and his family.

It should be recalled that Michael Schumacher made his Formula 1 debut with Jordan Grand Prix. He joined the team at 22, replacing team driver Bertrand Gachot who had ended up in jail. Schumacher only participated in one qualifying session and the start of the race during the Belgian Grand Prix, but even in that short time, he managed to impress and was immediately snapped up by the Benetton team.
