Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan passes away
On Thursday, March 20, the morning brought sad news from the world of Formula 1 – former team owner Eddie Jordan has passed away.
Details: His family announced his death, reports BBC. The Irishman had been battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer over the past year. He was 76 years old.
Quote: "With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan – former Formula 1 team owner, television expert, and entrepreneur. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Cape Town early on the morning of March 20, 2025," the family statement reads.
Jordan founded his Formula 1 team in 1991. The most successful season for the team was 1999, when Heinz-Harald Frentzen, with two victories that year, finished third in the drivers' standings, and together with teammate Damon Hill, secured third place for Jordan in the Constructors' Championship.
From 2001, the team faced a crisis and was sold in 2005.
