Return to South Africa is getting closer. FIA grants approval to upgrade track status

It’s been over 30 years since South Africa last hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix. However, a return to the calendar now seems more realistic than ever.
Details: The FIA has officially approved the project to upgrade the Kyalami circuit to FIA Grade 1 status—the highest category required to host Formula 1 races. This decision brings the return of the circuit and the Grand Prix to South Africa one step closer.
Quote: "This is a pivotal moment for South African motorsport. When we acquired Kyalami in 2014, we committed to restoring it not just as a world-class facility, but as a beacon of motorsport for the entire African continent. The FIA’s acceptance of our Grade 1 project is a major step forward on that journey," said track owner Toby Venter.
Reminder: The official Formula 1 social media announced that motorsport fans will be able to enjoy the Canadian Grand Prix for another ten years.
