Return delayed. Real Madrid won’t count on Alaba this year

Real Madrid defender David Alaba is nearing the end of his recovery from an ACL injury sustained last year, but his return to the field will be postponed.

Details: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti prefers a cautious approach despite Alaba’s progress in regaining fitness. The club now aims for the Austrian defender’s return in January.

Reminder: If Real Madrid follows this plan, Alaba will have been out of action for 13 months. He suffered the injury on December 17, 2023, in a match against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu. Recently, Alaba also listed his Munich property for sale, which he acquired during his time at Bayern Munich.
