Renowned trainer Dominic Ingle explains why Tyson Fury lost to Usyk in the rematch
On Saturday, December 21, the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury took place. The bout ended with a victory for the Ukrainian, and renowned trainer Dominic Ingle shared his thoughts on why the Briton was defeated.
Details: In an interview with Boxing King Media, Ingle revealed that he reviewed the judges’ scorecards and noticed that only two rounds were awarded to Fury, while he lost the crucial ones. According to Ingle, Tyson has aged, and although he had some excellent attacks, he failed to capitalize on them.
Quote: "There were only the fourth and fifth rounds where all three judges gave the nod to Tyson. Rounds 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11 were awarded to Usyk by every judge. So that’s five rounds against two—five clear rounds, five crucial rounds that all the judges gave to Usyk. Tyson only got two rounds. The rest of the rounds had majority decisions, 2-1, with some debatable outcomes. The clean rounds really show the story of the fight because it’s one where the decision is clear.
So, it was a very close fight, but the overall picture—and I’m a fan of Tyson—is that Tyson has aged. He had some good attacks, but he didn’t build on them, didn’t solidify them," explained the renowned English trainer.
