Relebohile Mofokeng no longer guaranteed a place in Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana
There has been a time when a player of Relebohile Mofokeng’s quality and form meant he was certain for a Bafana Bafana place but not anymore.
This does not apply to Mofokeng only but many players who have been part of the set up yet have now fallen down the pecking order of Hugo Broos’ squad.
The Bafana coach revealed last week that he has made up his mind with a lot of players and that some players are not assured of a place in the team.
"For instance, Relebohile Mofokeng and Siyabonga Ngezana are not in this team. It will be difficult, and choices will have to be made," Broos told the media last Thursday as he announced his final 23-man to face Zambia this Friday in Port Elizabeth.
“I am confident about 75-80% of the players who will be in the final squad for AFCON - I have a clear idea in my mind. But there are some decisions that will need to be made.”
"This is the last game in which we can provide opportunities for some new players. Few new players are on the team because I already know the other players well and didn’t need to evaluate them in the upcoming match.
"But I took the opportunity to call and see the new players in training and also assess their mentality for the future.”
Bafana play in Gqeberha this Friday in a friendly international as a preparation match for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
