Reinforcement ahead of the World Cup. Harvey Barnes could swap England for Scotland
The Scotland national team has ramped up its efforts to bring Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes into their squad.
Details: According to The Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards, Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes may switch his national team allegiance from England to Scotland.
Although Barnes was born in England and even played a friendly for the Three Lions in 2020 (against Wales), FIFA rules allow him to change his national team. Harvey has Scottish heritage through his grandparents, which gives him full legal eligibility to represent Steve Clarke's side.
This would be a boost for Scotland: an experienced Premier League winger could make a real impact for the team in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
It's worth noting that Scotland has already qualified for the World Cup, where they will face the likes of Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil.
Reminder: Newcastle came close to signing Kurt Zouma.
