Referee's mistake? VAR overturns controversial penalty against Man United in Everton clash

Details: In the 90+4th minute, Harry Maguire and Ashley Young clashed inside Manchester United’s penalty area, resulting in Young going down. Referee Andrew Madley pointed to the spot, awarding Everton a penalty. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned.

Quote: “The VAR system reviewed the referee’s decision to award a penalty to Everton for Maguire’s challenge on Young, deemed there was no foul, and recommended an on-field review. The referee overturned the initial decision, and play resumed with a throw-in,” stated the PL Match Centre on its X account.
