Record-breaking €55 million! Borussia Dortmund makes new bid for Cologne super talent

Borussia Dortmund is making bold moves in the race to secure one of German football’s brightest young stars.

Details: According to insider Patrick Berger from Sky Sport, Dortmund’s management sent a new official offer to Cologne on Wednesday evening for the transfer of 19-year-old winger Said El-Mala. The total financial package of the potential deal exceeds €55 million.

The guaranteed fixed transfer fee is just under €50 million, but with easily achievable bonuses, the payout rises to around €50 million. The remaining bonuses are structured for the long term.

Cologne has yet to give an official response to Dortmund’s proposal, but a decision is expected soon. The player himself has already agreed personal terms with Borussia and is now waiting for an agreement between the clubs.

It’s worth noting that in the 2025/26 season, Said El-Mala played 34 matches in the Bundesliga for Cologne, scoring 13 goals and providing 5 assists. The reputable portal Transfermarkt values the 19-year-old German youth international at €45 million.
