Prior to the match involving Atlético in the Champions League, various social media platforms have witnessed the emergence of video clips where fans of the mattress makers are heard uttering various racist insults, including referring to Vinícius Júnior as a "chimp." This behavior isn't limited to just that; there's also evidence that Atlético fans engaged in similar conduct prior to the 1/8 final match against Real Madrid.

Similar behavior was exhibited by Barcelona fans, who, before the return leg of the Champions League round of 16, chanted "Vinicius, die" outside the stadium.

Real Madrid's response didn't delay, and they decided not to let this go unpunished, but to turn to the court. In an official statement by "Los Blancos," it is stated:

"Real Madrid has filed a complaint with the official state prosecutor regarding hate crimes and discrimination related to racist and hateful insults directed at our player Vinicius Junior in areas adjacent to the Olympic Stadium in Montjuic and the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid before the Champions League matches Barcelona - Napoli and Atletico Madrid - Inter.

Real Madrid urges the prosecutor to request recordings available in both locations from law enforcement to identify those responsible for the abuses. Real Madrid condemns these cruel attacks of racism, discrimination, and hatred towards our player Vinicius Junior, which unfortunately have been a recurring and persistent problem for some time. Our club will continue to work diligently to uphold the values of football and sports in general and will remain steadfast in the fight for an approach of absolute intolerance towards the types of abhorrent incidents we have seen several times recently."

Earlier, we reported that Vinícius Júnior himself addressed UEFA and wrote on one of his social media platforms:

"I hope, UEFA, that you have already considered your punishment. This is a sad reality that even occurs in games where I am not present!"
