Real Madrid respond to rumors of interest in Manchester City midfielder Rodri
Real Madrid have ruled out signing 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri as part of their plans for the 2026 summer transfer window.
Details: According to Diario AS, even though the "royal club" is actively searching for ways to strengthen their midfield, Manchester City midfielder Rodri is not on the management's shortlist. The only time Rodri is expected at the Santiago Bernabéu is as an opponent in the next round of the Champions League.
The main reason for rejecting the transfer is said to be a strategic decision by the Madrid club, as well as the lasting effects of a serious injury the Spaniard suffered last year. Madrid has always held the Spanish national team leader's talent in high regard, but the club is now focused on younger prospects.
Meanwhile, the player himself is under contract with the Citizens until 2027 and is currently considering Manchester City's offer to extend his deal.
It's worth noting that this season, the Ballon d'Or winner has made 24 appearances for the Manchester club, scoring 2 goals.
Reminder: Manchester City plans to buy back Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund.
