The winger and star of Real Madrid often faces racist taunts from opposing fans. He has now revealed what the "Whites" will do if it happens again.
Last season, the Brazilian was involved in a scandalous incident when Valencia fans directed racist abuse at Vinícius. In an interview with CNN, the player shared that he and his Real Madrid teammates have discussed such situations and how they will respond in the future.
“At the club, we often talk about this. Not just me, but all the players have agreed that if this happens again, we will all leave the field so that those who insulted us face a much greater penalty,” Vinícius stated.
He recalled the episode against Valencia and mentioned that they were prepared to walk off the pitch at that time but decided to continue the match to avoid disappointing the fans who did not display racism.
Vinícius also added that he is pleased to contribute to changing the mentality, both in Spain and globally.
It is worth noting that last season, journalists’ persistent questions about racism so overwhelmed the Real Madrid star that he could not hold back his tears.
