The second leg of the Champions League playoff round against Manchester City for Real Madrid, despite their 3:1 victory, was overshadowed by issues from UEFA.
Details: The main governing body of European football deemed the behavior of Real Madrid fans in this match as discriminatory and decided to penalize the Madrid club with a fine of 30,000 euros and a partial stadium closure, affecting at least 500 seats, for their next home match.
While the fine must be paid immediately to UEFA, the stadium closure penalty is suspended for two years, until February 28, 2027.
Reminder: During that match, among other incidents, Real Madrid fans chanted homophobic slurs towards Manchester City's head coach Pep Guardiola.
