Real Madrid goalkeeper set to leave the club as a free agent
The goalkeeping issue at Real Madrid is one of the most pressing. Especially after the injury to Thibaut Courtois, when his replacement, Andriy Lunin, performed well and demanded more playing time. But two top-class goalkeepers in Carlo Ancelotti's team are unlikely to find a place.
So, Real offered the Ukrainian a new contract, which he himself so far leaves unanswered. According to Diario Sport, all because Lunin intends to leave the team as a free agent next summer, when his current agreement expires.
Real Madrid are ready to extend his contract until 2029, or sell him for an amount in the region of 30 million euros. At the same time, the ‘creamy’ want to find the Ukrainian a worthy replacement.
Lunin moved to Real in 2018 and after two years on loan has spent the last four seasons as an understudy to Courtois, whose serious injury last year allowed the Ukrainian to play 31 games for the team - 14 more than in the previous three campaigns combined.
