Real Madrid board concerned and holding discussions over Xabi Alonso’s work
Real Madrid suffered a 0–1 defeat to Liverpool last week and followed it up with a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano, results that have started to raise doubts about the head coach.
Details: According to Marca, the performance against Rayo was notably poor, sparking questions about Xabi Alonso’s tactical approach. The team’s form has dipped recently, and both the match at Anfield and the draw with Rayo have caused concern within the club’s hierarchy. So far, Alonso has not lived up to the high expectations set when he took charge in June.
Despite this, Real remain top of the La Liga table with 31 points from 12 matches, three points clear of second place.
Earlier reports suggested that Real Madrid might have lost yet another central defender. During a recent training session, Éder Militão sustained an injury and had his leg bandaged on the pitch.
Reminder: Bayern Munich have expressed interest in Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, who is also reportedly on Real Madrid’s radar.
