Real Madrid aims to hijack Arsenal transfer target

Real Madrid is firmly determined to bolster their defense this summer.
Now, the Blancos have a new transfer target: Bologna and Italy national team defender Riccardo Calafiori.
Real Madrid's management is currently diligently discussing Calafiori's candidacy and is preparing to take serious steps towards acquiring the Italian defender.
Earlier reports indicated that Arsenal was also intent on signing the defender. The Gunners proposed a swap deal to Bologna: Calafiori in exchange for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior plus additional cash. However, this plan did not satisfy Bologna, who wants to receive only cash in return for the center-back.
Calafiori himself has informed the "Rossoblù" that he is ready to try his luck at Arsenal. This might be influenced by the improved financial conditions: five million euros per year, which is double his current salary at Bologna.
