Real is in pursuit of a center-back. A “homegrown” player from Serie A is among the candidates

Real Madrid continues their search for a central defender due to the problematic situation arising from the injuries of David Alaba and Eder Militao.

According to Spanish media reports, the Los Blancos are considering the possibility of loaning a center-back from a European league in January.

It's been noted that the club has turned its attention to Lazio's central defender, Mario Gila. The 23-year-old Spaniard is a product of Real Madrid's academy, which leads the club to believe he could seamlessly replace the injured defenders. Hila has played only two matches for the senior team of Los Blancos.

However, Gila has not been a consistent starter for Lazio. In the current season, he has appeared in only eight games across all competitions for the Eagles, two of which were in the Champions League.

Apart from Gila, the club is also considering Goncalo Inacio and Usman Diomande from Sporting CP in Portugal, Antonio Silva from Benfica, Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta, and Leny Yoro from Lille.

Earlier reports indicated that Real Madrid might consider recalling Raphael Varane due to Alaba's injury.
