“Real have a persecution complex.” Barcelona president claims rivals are driven by envy

The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid continues not only on the pitch but far beyond it. Recently, the Catalan club’s president made pointed remarks about jealousy coming from their main rival.

Details: During a public appearance, Joan Laporta stated that Real Madrid suffer from a “persecution complex” regarding Barcelona’s greatest era.

Quote: “Real Madrid have a persecution complex about the best period in Barça’s history. They didn’t like that Barça were the global benchmark from 2004 to 2015. We were dominant, admired worldwide… and now they’re trying to find excuses that lead nowhere,” Laporta said.

Barcelona currently sit second in the table, just one point behind Real Madrid.

Reminder: Barcelona travelled to face Chelsea and suffered a heavy 0–3 defeat. In addition, their star Lamine Yamal was met with hostility from the English club’s supporters, causing concern within Barcelona.
