Darwin Núñez has rewritten EPL history: the forward has updated one of the league's unique records

Liverpool's striker, Darwin Núñez, hit the woodwork four times in the match against Chelsea.

In the game between Liverpool and Chelsea, the Uruguayan striker for the "Reds" had a stroke of bad luck. Nunez had four opportunities to score a goal, but on each occasion, the goal frame came to the rescue. The first moment occurred in the eighth minute when Darwin's shot hit the crossbar.

In the second episode, Chelsea's goalkeeper was assisted by the goalpost because after his save, the ball hit the frame again.

The third episode happened towards the end of the first half. Liverpool earned a penalty, and Nunez stepped up to take it. He skillfully placed the ball, sending the goalkeeper in one direction and the ball hitting the goalpost. In the first 45 minutes of the match, the Uruguayan striker hit the goal frame three times against Chelsea.

The Uruguayan striker did not stop there, and in the second half he hit the back of the net for the fourth time.

According to Squawka, only two players have hit the woodwork three times in a single Premier League match in the last eight seasons since the 2003/2004 season.

Before him, Leandro Trossard for Brighton against Manchester United (2020) and Timo Werner for Chelsea against Southampton (2022) have both hit the woodwork three times in one match.
