Raúl Asencio has found himself in an extremely challenging situation—he may face charges of distributing intimate photos of women without their consent.

Details: The footballer chose to address the matter publicly, releasing an official statement. He maintains that he has not been involved in any actions violating the sexual freedom of women.

He also emphasizes that the allegation against him is strictly preliminary, which means the presumption of innocence must apply.

Quote:

"1. I have not participated in any behavior that infringes on the sexual freedom of any woman, let alone a minor. This is confirmed by the decision of the presiding judge, who does not attribute any sexual contact with the two mentioned women to me, nor accuses me of recording any videos—either with or without their consent. The court ruling further clarifies that I was not the one who sent any intimate images or videos of this nature to third parties, which, I repeat, I did not record at all.

2. The court’s decision regarding me personally is limited to stating that I briefly viewed certain images passed on by a third party, without attributing any involvement in their creation or distribution to me.

3. The accusation against me, as explicitly stated in the court ruling, is strictly preliminary. Therefore, the presumption of innocence must be respected. Should formal charges be brought and the case proceed to trial, I will continue to defend myself before the judges and the courts, in whom I have full confidence, reaffirming my complete non-involvement in any criminal activity. All of this will be done with utmost respect for the judicial process, as well as for the other individuals still under investigation.

4. I would like to once again stress my absolute respect for the rights of all women to sexual freedom and the inviolability of private life," the official statement reads.

Reminder: The incident dates back to Asencio’s time with Real Madrid’s youth team. While vacationing in the Canary Islands, his friends filmed a sexual encounter with two local girls without their consent.
