Pyramids FC Crush Sagrada in CAF Champions League Opener
Pyramids FC began their CAF Champions League campaign in a spectacular way, thrashing Angola’s Sagrada 5-1 at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Egyptian team took the lead in the 17th minute through Ibrahim Adel, who later doubled his tally with a second goal in the 74th minute. Mohammed Hamdy increased Pyramids' lead in the 50th minute, and Congolese forward Fiston Mayele scored in the 77th minute. Substitute Ahmed Atef, also known as "Qattah," finished the scoring for Pyramids with a late goal in the 89th minute.
Sagrada managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time (90+2) by Dabanda Kashi, but the damage was already done.
Pyramids performed well under Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurčić, winning a crucial opening match to take the lead in Group D. Sagrada, on the other hand, begins their season with no points and at the bottom of the group.
