Pyramids Coach Krunoslav Jurcic Reflects on Dominant Victory and Areas for Improvement
Croatian head coach Krunoslav Jurcic expressed both satisfaction and caution following Pyramids FC’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Angola’s Sagrada in their CAF Champions League Group D opener at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium.
“I’m happy with the performance and the result, but there are two areas I’m not satisfied with: we failed to score early and allowed them to get on the scoresheet,” Jurcic said in the post-match press conference.
The coach heaped praise on Ahmed Atef “Qatta,” predicting a bright future for the forward with the Egyptian national team. “He has exceptional qualities that make him stand out,” Jurcic noted.
While applauding the team’s offensive prowess, Jurcic stressed the need for sharper finishing. "Even though we scored five goals, we also missed a lot of chances," he mentioned. He also called Ahmed El Shenawy "Egypt's top goalkeeper" and pointed out Ramadan Sobhi as a key player for the team.
Jurcic is already looking ahead to important away games against Djoliba in Mali and Espérance in Tunisia. "We need to stay ready and aim for good results when we play away," he stressed.
After the game, Ramadan Sobhi and Ali Gabr were chosen for anti-doping tests, which is a regular part of CAF rules.
