Details: Today it was revealed that 25-year-old Galatasaray left-back Eren Elmalı will receive a nine-month suspension after being found guilty of participating in gambling activities.

Reportedly, the player fully admitted his guilt, and considering the fact that he placed bets at a young age, the court decided not to impose a harsher penalty, which could have been up to five years.

Eren Elmalı has already commented:

"I was 19 or 20 years old. I didn't know I would become this kind of footballer. When my brother told me to stop, I quit immediately."

This incident is the result of a large-scale investigation by the Turkish Football Federation, during which more than 1,000 players at various levels in Turkey were suspected of betting activities.

This season, Elmalı has played in 11 matches and scored 3 goals.
