PSL coach Manqoba Mngqithi on his striker Sede Dion: He can be the PSL leading goalscorer only if he our midfielders supply him properly
Manqoba Mngqithi sees his Golden Arrows striker Sede Dion finish the season as the PSL’s leading goal-scorer.
Mngqithi, though, admitted that for Dion to surpass Mamelodi Sundowns’ Iqraam Rayners on the chats, he will need his team-mates to improve on the supply.
Dion is on top of the scoring chats with 12 goals, while Rayners has 10 and followed by Sekukhune United’s Bradley Grobler with eight.
“It would be nice, not necessarily to maintain the position of Dion in terms of goals but also to keep improving on our offensive actions,” said Mngqithi of his striker at Arrows.
“It’s pleasing to note that Ndlovu is probably number one in terms of assists in the PSL, Philani Khumalo is also there with five assists as well.
“For Dion, to be the top-goal scorer, then we’re looking at how many assists we can get from all our players around because if PK can have five from the number of games he’s played, it’s very positive for the club.
“But the reality is that I don’t want us to get carried away with that Dion is leading now. We can also wish that he maintains but the competition is very stiff.
“In my opinion, he’s competing with Iqraam Rayners and Brayan Leon at Sundowns. Those two, I think are posing a serious challenge.
“And you know those teams are the ones that create probably a lot of chances. I can only pray that he stays in the game, doesn’t get injured or suspensions. We are happy that he’s currently leading.”
Arrows face Sekhukhune United at home tomorrow where Dion will be hoping to score in increase his tally.
