Problems for Chelsea! Jamie Gittens sidelined for an extended period
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has confirmed troubling news: team winger Jamie Gittens has suffered a hamstring tear.
Details: According to the London boss Liam Rosenior at the press conference, Gittens' absence will be lengthy, posing a serious challenge to the Blues' attacking options in the crucial run-in of the season.
Recall that Gittens picked up the injury midway through the first half of Saturday's clash against West Ham (3-2) and already missed the trip to Arsenal in the English League Cup.
"Jamie has a tendon tear, and it's a real shame for him. I know what an outstanding player he is, so this is a big loss for us. It's too early to set any return dates," Rosenior stated.
This season, Gittens has featured in 27 matches for the London club across all competitions, recording one goal and five assists.
The squad situation is further complicated by the departure of Tyrique George to Everton, leaving the coach with just three natural wingers: Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, and Estevao. Meanwhile, Pedro Neto's availability for Saturday's match against Wolverhampton still remains in doubt.
It's worth noting that the Premier League Matchweek 25 fixture between Wolverhampton and Chelsea will take place on Saturday, February 7 at 16:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior shared how the players felt after being knocked out of the English League Cup by Arsenal.
