Premier League Calling? Osayi-Samuel Leaves Door Open After Win

Osayi-Samuel Bright, after his team defeated Sivasspor 3-1 in the Super Lig on Sunday, April 13, 2025, responded to mounting rumors about his future at Fenerbahçe. With cautious word choice, the Nigerian international did neither confirm nor deny a possible contract extension.

“My Only Focus Is the Championship”

In a post-match interview, Osayi-Samuel said:

“It’s hard to comment on this situation. Many people act as if they know the subject! I play for Fenerbahçe and I am very happy about it.”

“It was said that a contract had been signed and that I hadn't accepted it, but that's not the case. I have an excellent dialogue with the president. My only concern at the moment is the championship.”

“We will meet our president after the season to see what happens.”

Fenerbahçe Preparing Improved Offer

According to Turkish reports, Fenerbahçe are working on an improved contract proposal after their initial offer was reportedly below expectations. The club is keen to retain the 27-year-old, who has played a vital role under José Mourinho, especially in both domestic league and Europa League fixtures.

Return to England Still a Possibility

Osayi-Samuel was linked with Fulham in the winter transfer window, with negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage before Mourinho intervened, blocking the move to keep the Nigerian for the second half of the season.

The defender’s current deal is nearing its final phase, and Premier League clubs remain interested in bringing him back to England, where he previously featured for Queens Park Rangers.

Osayi-Samuel is still focused on the current task, even if Fenerbahçe is involved in a fierce title competition. Once the season is over, though, his contractual status will be a hot topic as he must decide whether to remain in Istanbul or return to the Premier League.
