Portuguese Coach Jose Gomes Set to Leave Zamalek for Saudi Pro League
According to reports, Portuguese coach Jose Gomes, who is presently leading Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek, is close to joining Al-Fateh of the Saudi Pro League. Even though Zamalek has recently improved under his direction, rumors that Gomes may soon go to Saudi Arabia have been more intense.
Gomes and Al-Fateh have agreed for Gomes to take over as head coach, according to Saudi radio station UFM. According to other sourcaes, he has reportedly asked Zamalek's management to end his contract, opening the door for him to formally join with the Saudi team.
Al-Fateh recently fired Swedish coach Jens Gustafsson due to a string of subpar performances that left them with only six points from 13 games, near the bottom of the Saudi League rankings. Gomes is viewed by the team as a crucial player who can turn around their fortunes.
Even though Gomes' current deal with Zamalek is set to expire in the summer of 2025, the high offer from Al-Fateh could force him to go sooner rather than later. In light of the possible move to the Saudi Pro League, Zamalek's management must make a crucial choice on their coach's future while talks continue.
