The national teams of Portugal and the Czechia met in the 1st round of Euro 2024. The match was held within Group F, where earlier Turkey defeated Georgia (3:1).

Interestingly, Portuguese players set several European Championship records by simply starting the match from the first minute. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo tonight became the only player to take part in six different European Championship finals.

While veteran Pepe is the oldest player to have played in a European Championship final.

As for the game itself, the first half was played with territorial advantage, which was eloquently reflected in the statistics of shots: 10:1. But they persistently failed to break through the Czech goalkeeper. In particular, Ronaldo failed to realize two good chances.

At the end of an hour of game time, the Czechs waited for their moment and unexpectedly took the lead after a long-range shot from Provod.

The Portuguese got back into the game after 7 minutes. And helped them Hranac, who cut the ball into the Czech goal.

At the end of the match, Jota headed the ball into the Czech goal on the rebound after Ronaldo's shot. However, the goal was not counted because of offside.

Still, the Portuguese snatched victory thanks to the efforts of substitute Francisco Conceição.

In the 2nd round in Group F, Portugal will play against Turkey and the Czechia will face Georgia. The matches will take place on June 22.
