Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, along with his brother André Silva, died in a car accident on July 3. Their former club, Porto, has expressed its condolences over the loss of their ex-players.

Unsurprisingly, Jota’s current club, Liverpool, has also responded to the heartbreaking news.

Statement: "Liverpool Football Club is deeply shocked by the tragic death of Diogo Jota. The club has received confirmation that the 28-year-old player was killed in a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother André," the statement reads.

The club also noted that it would not be making any further comments and asked for privacy for the family, friends, teammates and staff.

The “Dragons” also issued a statement offering their condolences to all of Jota’s and Silva’s loved ones. The club is currently in mourning.

Statement: "Football Club Porto is in mourning. With deep shock and sadness, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Diogo Jota, as well as his brother André Silva, who also played for our club at the youth level. May they rest in peace."

Football clubs from around the world have also reacted to the tragic news.

Reminder: Jota was a Portuguese footballer, a forward and left winger for Liverpool and the Portugal national team. He previously played for Porto, Wolverhampton, and Portugal’s youth national team. He joined Liverpool in 2020, transferring from Wolverhampton for £41 million.
