Political scandal in England! Manchester United owner distances himself from campaign video

The co-owner of Manchester United has unexpectedly found himself at the center of a British political controversy.

Details: Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been drawn into a political scandal in the United Kingdom. British political party Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, released a campaign video that used quotes from the 73-year-old billionaire without any authorization.

Petrochemical corporation INEOS, controlled by Ratcliffe, officially confirmed to The Athletic that the British businessman was unaware of the video’s creation and had not consented to the use of his words in the political campaign.

However, the company declined to comment on whether Ratcliffe’s lawyers or representatives had contacted Reform UK’s leadership with a direct request to remove the video from social media.

It is worth noting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a minority stake in Manchester United at the beginning of 2024, taking operational control of the sporting side of the English giants.
