Pokémon fan: Antoine Griezmann trades his match jersey for collectible cards
Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann made an unusual trade with a fan—swapping his match-worn jersey for a set of rare Pokémon trading cards, The Sun reports.
The exchange took place after Atlético’s 5-0 victory over Getafe in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Griezmann ran to the stands and handed his jersey to the son of popular YouTuber and Pokémon card streamer Darizard. In return, the French star received two sealed boxes of the “Prismatic Evolution” card set.
Griezmann has long been known for his love of Pokémon cards and collectibles. He first shared a photo with Pikachu in 2016, and later gave an interview with Topps, discussing his passion for collecting.
"I think Koke, our captain, has some chrome cards of his own, but I'm a real collector and I believe there is no football player that is collecting like me with rooms full of cards," Griezmann once admitted.
