Manchester United still needs to strengthen its midfield.
Details: According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Manchester United board is ready to drastically shift its summer transfer strategy—opting for promising young players from the Championship instead of high-priced superstars.
Reports indicate that difficulties in negotiations with Sandro Tonali and other midfield targets have forced the Red Devils’ management to turn their attention to 23-year-old Middlesbrough holding midfielder Hayden Hackney and 22-year-old Southampton defensive midfielder Shea Charles.
Both players are viewed as more affordable options to reinforce the central defensive line if United fails to land their preferred, more high-profile targets.
Transfermarkt values Hayden Hackney at €32 million and Shea Charles at €15 million, but Southampton has already made it clear they will demand no less than £30 million.
