South African coach Pitso Mosimane has suggested he may extend his stay with Iranian club Esteghlal FC, following a turnaround in the team’s form under his leadership.

After taking over the Tehran-based powerhouses in October, Mosimane first had difficulties after three straight losses. But since then, the club has improved significantly, going six games without a loss and winning three of them.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Mosimane revealed ongoing discussions with the club’s management. “I have spoken to the club’s CEO, and he is willing to extend my contract,” he said, as quoted by iDiski Times. “I am here and I would like to stay in Iran, but there is no contract on the table at the moment. Whenever my contract is ready, I will make my decision quickly.”

The experienced coach also praised the players’ dedication and expressed his appreciation for the Iranian football culture. “The team’s situation has improved, and the players are working hard. I have no problem staying in Iran or with the Iranian style of play. I think more about football, and if the conditions are good, I will have no problem.”

Mosimane, who has had success in the past with teams like Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, brushed off worries about adjusting to life in Iran. “Some people said that the conditions in Iran are not good and did not recommend me to come, but I love Iran.”

Esteghlal fans will be eager to see Mosimane continue building on the team’s recent resurgence as talks progress over his future.
