Pirates and Chiefs Set for High-Stakes Soweto Derby on February 1

On February 1, the 2024/25 season's inaugural Soweto Derby will take held at FNB Stadium. The league's 2nd place Orlando Pirates sit 6 point behind the leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, with 1 game remaining. 5th place Kaizer Chiefs want to sabotage the Pirates' bid for the championship.

Pirates come into the game in great form, having won 5 of their last 6 match. They’ve also won the last 3 Soweto derbies, showing superior defense and efficiency in attack. Chief’s defense has been shaky, with 16 goal conceded in 14 match, making them vulnerable.

Pirates' key players include Relebohile Mofokeng 8 goal, 11 assists and Patrick Maswanganyi 4 goal, 1 assist. Vilakazi, 19, is a promising young player for the Chiefs, having scored 2 goal and assisted one this season.

The match promises to be exciting, with the Pirates looking to prolong their outstanding run and the Chiefs ready to test their opponents. With both clubs in good form, this derby may have a big influence on the championship race.
