The 10th-ranked player in the world, Karolina Muchova, revealed that she underwent wrist surgery. The injury occurred at the US Open, where the Czech player lost in the semifinals to the eventual champion, American Coco Gauff. Since then, Karolina has not returned to the court, missing both the WTA Finals and the Australian Open.
"Improvement in the wrist: completed! Rehabilitation challenge? Accepted.
After the injury sustained at the US Open and an extended period of rehabilitation, it became apparent that medical intervention was necessary. And here I am, weary and saddened, but I know that everything will be fine now. The surgery was successful, and I will do everything possible to see you back on the court soon," wrote Muchova on Instagram.
Muchova qualified for the WTA Finals 2023 but withdrew precisely due to the wrist injury.
