Personnel blow for RCB! Phil Salt misses IPL match due to injury
Royal Challengers Bangalore were forced to make last-minute squad changes ahead of their recent IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans.
Details: The team's main opening batsman, Phil Salt, had to sit out the game after picking up an injury. RCB captain Rajat Patidar confirmed the news at the toss, emphasizing that the management decided not to risk the key player's health, even though the injury did not appear to be severe.
Jacob Bethell took the field as Salt's replacement, making his debut appearance this IPL season.
Salt's absence was a major setback for Bangalore, considering his significant contribution to the team's scoring output at the start of the season, where he formed a formidable opening partnership with Virat Kohli.
Reminder: Virat Kohli etched his name into IPL history.
