The Dutch defender voiced his discontent.

Details: Netherlands and Tottenham's 25-year-old center-back Micky van de Ven recently criticized the decision to host the 2026 World Cup in the United States, pointing to a lack of festive atmosphere surrounding the event.

Van de Ven remarked that Americans are barely aware they are about to host the world's biggest football celebration:

"Do I feel the World Cup vibe in the USA? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Last summer I was here on vacation, and people didn't even realize the World Cup was taking place in their own country," Van de Ven admitted.

At the World Cup, the Netherlands have been drawn into Group F, where they'll face Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia. The Oranje kick off their campaign against Japan on June 14 at Dallas Stadium in Arlington.
