Patrice Motsep promises fairness in the face of the crisis of confidence triggered by the decision of the CAF Appeals Committee
The president of the Confederation of African Football has broken his silence in the face of growing criticism and suspicion following the decision to strip Senegal of the African championship title and award it to Morocco.
In a statement, Patrice Motsep first reiterated the fundamental principles that must guide African football. The CAF President then sought to reassure the various African nations. He reiterated that every federation has the right to appeal to defend its interests, guaranteeing that the Confederation of African Football will respect the decisions taken by the competent bodies. For him, equal treatment between nations remains a fundamental principle.
Each of the 54 African nations has the right to take the necessary legal action to defend its interests. We will comply with and respect the decision taken at the highest level. A key principle is that no African country will be treated in a more privileged, advantageous or favourable manner than any other country on the African continent.
