Mason Greenwood is in outstanding form this season, raising the natural question of his involvement in the World Cup. However, it remains unclear which team he might represent.
Details: According to The Athletic, England head coach Thomas Tuchel is not considering Greenwood for the national team. The forward also holds a Jamaican passport and is eligible to represent Jamaica.
At the moment, the door is open for him to join the Jamaican team, but several Jamaica players have expressed concerns. The issue is that Greenwood did not take part in World Cup qualifying and it’s uncertain whether he would feature in the qualification play-offs.
Jamaica are set to face New Caledonia in the semi-final of the intercontinental play-offs. That match will take place at the end of March. The winner will advance to the play-off final against DR Congo.
