Thomas Christiansen said the Bafana Bafana performance last night was not far from what they expected.

Christiansen said Hugo Broos’ men stuck to their usual game of transitions and quick attacks which Panama had identified as South Africa’s game.

Christiansen’s Panama are in the country in the current Fifa break for two friendly internationals as both nations prepare for the upcoming World Cup in June.

But the game at Moses Mabhida Stadium saw both teams play to a 1-1 draw.

“Well, today I saw what I expected from this team. A physical team, a fast team in attack, good transitions, good runs,” said Christiansen in the post-match press conference.

“They found us in the spaces that we wanted to close. But a friendly game or a qualifying game is not the same as a game in the World Cup. So I think we both need to upgrade a little bit our level.”
