One step away from the group stage: Moremi fires Orlando Pirates to victory over African Stars in the CAF Champions League
Orlando Pirates secured an important away victory over Namibia’s African Stars in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League. The match ended 1-0 in favor of the South African side.
The only goal of the match came in the 78th minute. Tshepang Moremi found the net, once again proving his scoring prowess and giving his team an advantage ahead of the return leg.
It was already the player’s fifth goal of the season. Moremi has scored four times in South Africa’s top flight, the Betway Premiership. The midfielder also found the net in the previous match against TS Galaxy.

Orlando Pirates must now seal the deal on home soil. The return leg will be played on October 23 in Johannesburg, where the South African club will look to complete the job and book its place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League. The narrow advantage puts Orlando Pirates in a strong position ahead of the home game, but the final outcome of the tie will be determined by the return match.
