One of the premier defenders in Serie A will miss the pivotal phase of the season due to injury

The prominent Atalanta defender, Giorgio Scalvini, has been sidelined due to injury and will be unavailable for his team in the upcoming matches.

As per Sky Sport Italia reports, the 20-year-old footballer will be out of action for at least a month due to a biceps injury. The defender's diagnosis was confirmed following a medical examination conducted on Tuesday morning.

This implies that the Italian central defender will miss a minimum of eight upcoming matches for "La Dea," including both fixtures against Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-finals.

In the current season, Scalvini has appeared in 34 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists. He has also featured in eight matches for the Italian national team.

The stellar performances of the 20-year-old defender have already attracted interest from several top clubs. Media reports suggest that Manchester United, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool are among the clubs keeping tabs on the player.

Atalanta currently occupies the sixth position in Serie A and is striving for qualification to the Champions League, trailing behind by seven points.
