When Omar Marmoush scored a hat-trick against Newcastle United on Saturday in Matchweek 25, he created an incredible impression in the Premier League and scored his first goals for Manchester City.
The Egyptian forward scored his first goal in the 19th minute, added a second in the 24th, and finished with his hat-trick in the 33rd. He joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt during the January transfer window. After failing to score in his opening two league games against Chelsea and Arsenal, this performance helped him end his scoring slump.
Marmoush reached his first three Premier League goals in just 176 minutes, a much faster start compared to Mohamed Salah, who took 587 minutes to score three goals in England’s top flight. Salah, now a Liverpool legend, scored his first two Premier League goals during his time at Chelsea, and his third in his Liverpool debut against Watford in 2017.
The 26-year-old forward also became only the second Egyptian to score a hat-trick in Premier League history, after Salah, and the third African to achieve this feat this season, following Amad Diallo (Manchester United) and Dango Ouattara (Bournemouth).
Marmoush’s performance will surely impress Pep Guardiola, as City continues its title chase in the Premier League.
