Olympiacos - Fiorentina. Predicted line-ups and latest news

On 29 May, the second trophy winner of the current European Cup season will be decided - Olympiacos and Fiorentina will meet in Athens in the third ever UEFA Conference League final.

Both teams have underperformed in their respective championships and, although they have made it to the European Cup, they will be playing in their third tournament in Europe. For both Olympiacos and Fiorentina, a win on Wednesday will get them into a bigger competition, namely the Europa League.

The Greek team, which is based only an hour away from the venue of the final - the new home stadium of AEK Athens, took advantage of this factor, and Olympiacos head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar gave the players a two-day rest after the last match of the championship on 20 May.

The specialist admitted at the press conference that the players still need to work after the short holiday, but he is confident that everything will be successful:

"It's difficult to see what you want to see in the first training session. Joy is normal, but the next few days will be different. We have many days ahead of us and I believe we will achieve what we want."

Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Italiano gave a press conference already upon the arrival of the Violets in the Greek capital, where he expressed himself about the upcoming match in this way:

"We cannot lose our identity. In this match it is important to show the belief in football and the organisation that led us to the final. We have to play the way we play in the final. We have to take our experience with us. It's a chance to take revenge for us, in a way. We have to play with fire inside and give our best."

Both coaches will be able to rely on a fairly optimal squad for the final game, with only one player each in the infirmary. Olympiacos defender Francisco Ortega is doubtful for the game, while Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Sottile will not be available.
