In the final match, the teams of Ukraine and South Korea faced off. The Ukrainian fencers emerged victorious with a total score of 45-42.

A significant contribution to the success of the Ukrainian team was made by the country's best fencer, Olga Kharlan. She entered the decisive duel with the score at 37-40 in favor of her opponent. Olga managed to equalize the score at the beginning and then clinched the victory. Her overall score in the final was 22-10.

Earlier today, Ukraine defeated Japan (45-32) in the semifinals and Italy (45-37) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal match, Kharlan's score was 18-6, and in the quarterfinals, it was 15-9.

By the way, this is Kharlan's second gold medal and sixth overall. In 2008, she also helped Ukraine win gold in the team sabre event. Her score in the final against China back then was 22-14.
